CANOPY holds the operational and financial records of small UK landscaping businesses — their clients, their schedules, their money. That is not data anyone hands over lightly, so this page sets out plainly how it is handled and where to read the detail.
The policies
How your data is protected
- Isolation between businesses. Every table enforces row-level security, so one company’s records are unreachable from another company’s session. That is enforced by the database itself, not only by application code.
- Encryption. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Passwords are hashed and are never visible to us in plaintext.
- Access control. Owner and staff roles limit what each person in a business can see and change.
- Location. Your data is stored primarily in the EU. Where a sub-processor sits outside the EEA, Standard Contractual Clauses apply.
What we don’t do
- We do not sell your data, or your clients’ data, to anyone.
- We do not use your business data to advertise to you or to anyone else.
- The website sets no cookies at all — no analytics, no marketing, no tracking pixels.
- We do not add a new sub-processor without telling you at least 30 days beforehand.
Your data is yours
You own everything you put into CANOPY. You can export your records to CSV from inside the app at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account. Financial and tax records are the one exception — HMRC requires those to be kept for six years, and that obligation sits above an erasure request. The Data Retention Policy explains exactly which records that covers.
Who we are
CANOPY is operated by Ebonie Moore, trading as CANOPY, and is built and run in the UK. We will update these pages to reflect CANOPY Ltd once the company is incorporated. The data controller can be reached at support@thecanopyapp.com.
